2011 Preakness Betting – Dance City Aims To Show Off Best Moves At Pimlico

2011 Preakness betting odds have Dance City as a mid-pack horse when it comes to the “Run For The Black-Eyed Susans” takes place on Saturday at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, but this horse is getting more and more attention as a thoroughbred that could challenge the favorites. He also doesn’t have a lot of miles on his legs, which means Dance City should be ready to move through the field this weekend.

horse-racing-newsDance City finished second in his first maiden attempt before claiming a win in January, then he went on to win an allowance race at Gulfstream Park in his first race with Javier Castellano on his back after two races under John Velasquez, who will be riding Animal Kingdom, the Kentucky Derby winner and horse betting favorite to win the Preakness. Dance City then went on to finish third in the Grade 1 Arkansas Derby, where he came in behind Archarcharch, who was due to be a Kentucky Derby favorite before injury forced his withdrawal, and Nehro, who came in second in the Derby, but won’t run in the Preakness (he will, however, run in the Belmont Stakes). That was on April 16th, so Dance City should be well rested…or he’ll be rusty, but most are leaning towards rested when it comes to this horse.

Castellano has seen success at Pimlico before as he won the 2006 Preakness with Bernardini, but he hasn’t raced in the big one at this track since then. Trainer Todd Pletcher has yet to win at the Preakness, and a win this weekend would complete the career Triple Crown as he won the Belmont in 2007, and then he finally won the Kentucky Derby last year. Many are surprised that Pletcher doesn’t have more

Triple Crown wins under his belt, but horse racing isn’t like WWE Smackdown: there are no predetermined winners, and no matter how good your team is, you still have to go out and win the race.

Dance City is rated at +1415 according to 2011 Preakness betting odds, and the thing that many people like about this horse is its balance; whether it is early in the race or coming out of the final turn, Dance City seems to be relaxed and running at the same pace, and that is necessary when dealing with these high-pressure Triple Crown races. This should provide a lot of confidence in Dance City as he should be able to get out of the gate cleanly, and if he’s in the top five coming out to the finish line, he has the heart to find a little extra. Dance City would be an excellent pick in your online sports betting book.
