Dallas has already conceded Tony Romo won’t play in this year’s game as the team looks to keep him healthy for as long as possible, but there will be a number of starters for both teams that see action. That includes Miami quarterback Ryan Tannehill, who is expected to take another step forward in his second NFL season.

NFL Betting Preview: Miami Dolphins

Tannehill progressed throughout his rookie season and should benefit from the arrival of a couple of key weapons in Mike Wallace and Brandon Gibson. Whether or not either of those players will get to play on Sunday isn’t certain, but Tannehill should see one or two series’. Marcus Thigpen will lead a speedy group of receivers that will be challenging for depth spots, while Lamar Miller likely gets his first action as the team’s No. 1 back after Reggie Bush exited in the offseason. The Dolphins’ price per head fan base is also looking forward to the debut of rookie third-overall pick linebacker Dion Jordan, one of four defensive players taken by Miami with its first five draft picks.

NFL Betting Preview: Dallas Cowboys Defense will also be a popular sportsbook reviews theme with the Cowboys as we get our first look at Monte Kiffin’s new scheme, which will feature plenty of Cover-2 looks. Veteran Kyle Orton will lead the offense ahead of youngsters Nick Stephens and Alex Tanney, as both look to show they deserve the No. 3 job on the quarterback depth chart. If Romo isn’t playing, then there is a real good chance DeMarco Murray won’t see much preseason action as Dallas looks to keep its star running back healthy. That will mean plenty of action for Lance Dunbar, Terrance Williams, and Phillip Tanner, as all three look to lock down a complimentary role in a rushing attack that ranked 31st in the NFL a year ago.

NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick It may be the first week of the preseason but that adds an element of intrigue to this game, particularly with so many players fighting for jobs. Tannehill may start for Miami, but Dallas is deeper at the quarterback position and might not be afraid to go a little longer with Orton if it means some good early looks for the offense. The Cowboys and Dolphins both want to start off on the right track, but there may be a greater sense of urgency with a team that has underachieved dramatically over the past couple of years and opening a make or break season under head coach Jason Garrett.
