2014 Pro Bowl Picks – Jerry Rice vs Deion Sanders

In a desperate attempt to keep the Pro Bowl Picks relevant, the NFL switched formats this year to a draft system instead of an NFC versus AFC. Deion Sanders and Jerry Rice were captains and they picked teams based on the available talent in this year’s exhibition game. It is unclear as to whether or not NFL betting enthusiasts will buy into this new set-up, but it was clear that the NFL is willing to give the Pro Bowl one more chance before it is eliminated for good.

Pro Bowl PicksThe sports betting world watched as the NFL dragged the Pro Bowl Picks draft out over the course of two days. Under the Hawaiian sun, Jerry Rice and Deion Sanders picked their teams and put together the 2014 Pro Bowl rosters. Deion Sanders asked if he could play in the game and the NFL said no. But would that really matter? Allowing Rice and Sanders to play in the game would probably add a feeling of nostalgia to the game that would add some viewers to the sagging ratings. In the end, Team Sanders will take on Team Rice in is probably the most important game in this All-Star exhibition’s long history.

Team Rice -Former NFL wide receiver Jerry Rice is often galled the GOAT. The term stands for “greatest of all time,” which makes fans think that Rice knows football talent. Ron Rivera will coach Team Rice and Drew Brees will be the starting quarterback. That is not a bad start to an All-Star team. Rice also picked players such as wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald, running back LeSean McCoy, and linebacker Robert Mathis. All in all, Rice really did pick a potent team and it is a team that could compete with any team at any level. The best part to Rice’s team is that Philip Rivers and Alex Smith are the other two quarterbacks. Not a bad combination.

Team Sanders -Deion Sanders is twice as arrogant as Jerry Rice is humble. With that being said, it seems like Sanders picked players that matched his personality. The starting quarterback for Team Sanders is the soft-spoken Andrew Luck. But the backups are Cam Newton and Nick Foles; two guys not known for their soft-spoken demeanor. Sanders has players such as wide receiver Dez Bryant, running back Eddie Lacy, and defensive end J.J. Watt. The online betting world is pretty sure that Sanders did not pick his players based on their humble natures.

The Bottom Line -In a one on one battle between wide receiver Jerry Rice and cornerback Deion Sanders, most people would choose Rice. These two captains made draft decisions that were based largely on their own characters. If you believe that Rice could out-hustle Sanders on the field, then you have to believe that a team molded in Jerry Rice’s image could probably outshine a team that was created by Deion Sanders. It is hard to get All-Stars to play like a team, but if anyone can do it, it would be Jerry Rice.2014 Pro Bowl Picks: Team Rice.
