Can the Indianapolis Colts win the Super Bowl this season?

After a disappointing 2015 campaign, Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts are looking to bounce back and regain the AFC South title this time around. In 2014, the Colts reached the AFC Championship game but fell short against the New England Patriots in the controversial ‘Deflategate’ encounter – but this Colts side is much changed and head coach Chuck Pagano believes that his team are on the verge of something very special at Lucas Oil Stadium.

Ultimately, Luck’s fitness is crucial to Indy’s chances of glory. Without a shadow of a doubt, the former Stanford quarterback has the talent to blossom into an elite NFL signal caller but injuries and interceptions hindered his progress last year. In fact, Luck is a turnover machine and the Colts will need him to hone down on the interceptions this season if they are to go all the way to the Super Bowl in Houston.

The Houston Texans pipped Indianapolis to the divisional title last year but the AFC South will be much more competitive this time around. Houston improved on offense, signing Lamar Miller and Brock Osweiler whilst the Jacksonville Jaguars continued to build a formidable-looking side with their smart draft strategy. Meanwhile, the Tennessee Titans traded away the number one overall pick in the 2016 draft but managed to fill a few needs and they will be much stronger than they were 12 months ago.

At the time of writing, the Colts are slight favourites for the AFC South crown and punters can get enhanced odds and offers for 2016 free bets at It is a very tough division to call this year but Luck’s return to full fitness gives Indianapolis a clear edge over their rivals. Whilst the likes of Osweiler, Marcus Mariota and Blake Bortles are competent in the pocket, Luck is on a different level – and that is why the Colts selected him with the first pick of the 2012 NFL draft.

Indy now have a bolstered offensive line; which should give Luck some added protection against opposing defensive ends and line-backers. Ultimately, the AFC South is full of talent on defense and the Colts simply had to focus on protecting their quarterback after his injury woes in 2015. And with a number of picks in the draft, the Colts did just that. Most Indy fans will now be satisfied with the offensive line ahead of the new campaign despite a pretty lacklustre effort in pre-season.

Chuck Pagano will be quietly confident of snatching the AFC South title back from Houston but the Super Bowl remains a distant dream. Defense wins championships in this game and unfortunately, Indianapolis just don’t have enough playmakers on the defensive side of the ball to go all the way. However, Andrew Luck is a brilliant anomaly to have and if anyone can defy the trend and lead the Colts to victory, it is him. Write them off at your peril…
