College Football Bowl Championship Picks – Fans Get The BCS Championship Game They Wanted To See

t’s still not the system that most college football online sports betting fans wanted, but after a big upset in the Big Ten Championship game, fans outside of Ohio will get the BCS National Championship game they want to see. The Michigan State Spartans took care of Ohio State Buckeyes in the Big Ten finale, taken them out of the No. 2 spot in the AP rankings, now allowing the Auburn Tigers to get to the big College Football Bowl game. Auburn has certainly come through with its share of miracle finishes in big wins this season, including most notably its Iron Bowl win over the previously undefeated and two-time defending national champion Alabama Crimson Tide, but all of that is history as they get set to take on the top-ranked Florida State Seminoles as 8.5-point underdogs.

#1 Florida State Seminoles vs. #2 Auburn Tigers
Monday January 6, 2014 – 8:30 PM ET
Rose Bowl, Pasadena, California
College Football Sports Betting Line: Florida State – 8.5

Florida State has done just fine without any miracle wins to this point, as it has won each of its first 13 games by 14 points or more. The Seminoles plowed through a relatively weak ACC schedule, and will now get their chance to prove they belong on top as they go up against the reigning SEC champion.

College Football Bowl Championship Betting Preview: Florida State -Perhaps the stroke of fortune that Florida State incurred is having star quarterback Jameis Winston available for this game, after allegations of rape failed to lead to a criminal charge. Winston has thrown for 3,820 yards and 38 touchdowns this year, and is the favorite to take home the Heisman trophy. The Seminoles’ 14th-ranked pass offense has been a big part of their success, but they also have excellent balance with a rushing attack that ranks 27th in the nation in yards per game on the ground, and a stellar defense that has allowed just 10.7 points per game – No. 1 in the country.

College Football Bowl Championship Betting Preview: Auburn The Auburn defense will have a tough time slowing down Winston and the Florida State offense, and they will need to be ready after allowing an average of 24 points per game during the season. The tandem of senior running back Tre Mason and quarterback Nick Marshall will need a big performance to keep up with the Seminoles’ offense, and there is little doubt head coach Gus Malzahn will look to the nation’s top-ranked running game to maintain possession and keep the ball out of Winston’s hands. Mason averaged 5.7 yards per carry, running for 1,621 yards and 22 touchdowns this season. He and Marshall may both need their best performances of the season for the Tigers to earn a win.

College Football Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick -There is no denying that Florida State has been dominant from the outset this season, but a relatively weak online betting schedule has been questioned, and it will be interesting to see how they match up against SEC competition. Auburn has proved its critics wrong time and again this year, and even if they come up short of the miracle finish they desire, they should at least be able to keep this one within range until the end. College Football Bowl Championship Picks: Auburn Tigers + 8.5.
