College Football Picks – Bulls Head To Notre Dame For Intriguing

While NFL betting lines have been getting most of the attention with the lockout ending, the sports betting season for college football fans and sharps is beginning soon as well and while there are a lot of easy choices to make in Week 1, South Florida’s visit to Notre Dame may be one of the tougher picks to make.

notredame-betting-oddsSouth Florida Notre Dame Betting – Saturday, September 3rd, 3:30 PM ET. The Bulls won five of their last seven to finish 8-5 in the Big East, wrapping up the year with a win over Clemson in the Meineke Car Care Bowl, but there are only four starters back on an offense that was 105th in the country in 2010.

Quarterback B.J, Daniels will get some help from running back Demetrius Murray and a few others in the backfield, but there are no receivers and the offensive lines is missing an all-conference center and both tackles. The defense, which welcomes back six starters, and from the back, they are solid until you get to the line, which is lacking some much-needed depth on the interior.

The Fighting Irish were up and down last season, but college football betting players watched them win their last four to finish 8-5 with a victory over Miami in the Sun Bowl. You don’t need to read BetOnline reviews to know the big news in South Bend: star receiver Michael Floyd has been reinstated to the team after legal issues. But who will be the quarterback? Tommy Rees filled in admirably for the injured Dayne Crist late in the season, but Crist will likely take the job back, and he’ll be behind for returning starters up front. It may take Crist and Floyd some time to gel, though as Floyd missed the spring practices. The defense, which finished 50th in the nation, is very experienced and consistent from front to back.

College football betting odds will likely favor the Fighting Irish at home in their first-ever meeting with the Bulls, who were 4-2 ATS on the road while Notre Dame were 2-3-2 at home. The South Florida defense should have their hands full with Floyd, which opens up the rest of the field for the rest of the Fighting Irish playmakers, but it’s up to Crist to be sharp and hit his targets. Offensively is where the Bulls may have some problems and Daniels is the key to it all as he has to make some plays with his legs, especially with the lack of receiving help at South Florida. It won’t be an easy matchup by any means, but bet on Notre Dame to open the online sports betting season on a high note.
