College Football Picks Week 4 – LSU Tigers Look to Blowout Conference Foe Auburn

The LSU Tigers are currently the sixth ranked team in the nation and it is thanks to their solid defensive play and quarterback Zach Mettenberger. The Tigers have won their two most recent College Football Picks games in a relative easy fashion, but they did start the year with a 10 point win over the TCU Horned Frogs giving them more quality wins than the Auburn Tigers at this points in the season. The Tigers have played two close games and one blowout on their way to a 3-0 record and the most impressive of their three wins was last weeks 24-20 win over the Mississippi State Bulldogs, meaning they may be able to surprise sports bettors and make this a close game.

College Football PicksAuburn Tigers @ LSU Tigers. Odds: LSU -17.5. What To Watch For From The LSU Tigers. The LSU defense has once again been the strongest unit on this team as they are allowing just 19 points per game, which includes the 27 points they limited the Horned Frogs to in Week 1. On offense it is Mettenberger who commands the most attention as he is completing 65% of his passes and has thrown for nearly 800 yards, nine touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Mettenberger has been near perfect for the Tigers and if he can sustain his level of play LSU will be a tough team to beat this season. The same can be said for the running game as the team has two players averaging more than eight yards per carry with a combined six touchdowns, further proving this is a balanced offense that will be tough to stop.

The Auburn defense will have its hands full with the LSU offense, but through three games Auburn is giving up an average of just 17.7 points per game, which can partially be attributed to their easy early season schedule. Auburns offense is just about as balanced as LSU’s as quarterback Nick Marshall is trusted throwing the ball and is completing over 60% of his passes with more touchdowns than interceptions. The run game is mainly handled by four backs and Marshall, who has rushed for just over 100 yards of his own. As a team they average just over five yards per carry and stud running back Corey Grant is actually averaging 9.6 yards per carry indicating he will get the majority of carries come Saturday.

Both of the offense in this game have had pretty good success through three games, but when they meet on Saturday it will likely be the LSU Tigers who come away victorious. Mettenberger has been dominant throwing the ball and limiting turnovers which will make it tough for Auburn to keep it close as they will need to play near perfect football to do so, which is why LSU is my pick to cover the spread and get the win.
