MLB Playoffs Picks – Boston Red Sox vs. Cleveland Indians Game Two – October 7, 2016

On the hill for Boston in this must-win playoff game is David Price. He posted a 17-9 record with a 3.99 ERA in his first year with the Red Sox. Price was 8-6 with a 4.64 ERA as late as July 5 before you go 9-3 with a 3.33 ERA over his last 17 appearances. The pressure now could be on Price to translate that solid late-season form within the playoffs. Despite his sheer talent, Price remains with out a postseason victory in his career.

Price’s only two October victories attended from the pen. He is 0-7 with a 5.27 ERA in eight previous postseason starts. That said, Price will fancy his chances from the Indians as he has fared well against them of late. He last pitched against Cleveland on Opening Day, limiting the Tribe to two runs and five hits while striking out 10 in six innings.

Apart from Price, the Red Sox also need their hitters to supply some timely runs today. It’s crucial for the Red Sox that they get their bats going quickly in Game 2. Likely to lead the Boston attack today is David Ortiz. He led the Red Sox in homers (38) and RBIs (127) this season. He’s 4-of-16 against Cleveland starter Corey Kluber with two homers and four RBIs. Ortiz went 1-of-4 last night in Game 1
