You hate watching him strike out, but is he better than you think?

The club appears determined to do whatever they can to stay in it, however, so any moves may have to wait until much closer to the deadline as the plans, for now, are to buy. Lee would be the top starter available if and when he hits the market, though his contract could complicate things and limit the interest. Lee is owed $25 million in each of the next two seasons, plus a $27.5 million salary for 2016 or a $12.5 million buyout.

That is in addition to the roughly $8 million he’d be owed over the final two months of 2013, assuming he’s not dealt until deadline day. To get the kind of return that might motivate them to make a deal, the Phillies may have to agree to include some cash.
