NBA Update – Will Brandon Jennings stay with the Bucks after this season?

NBA Update Brandon Jennings is going to be a restricted free agent at the end of the season and if he doesn’t like what the Milwaukee Bucks are willing to give him, the point has the option to just sign the one-year qualifying offer worth about $4.5 million. If that happens Jennings will most likely leave the Bucks in 2014.

NBA Update“Get what you can for him. He has never shot over 40% .. Lets keep Redick and find a point guard elsewhere. Ellis and Jennings average 17 shots a game each. They both shoot 40%. IF they shot the league avg (45%) that would be one more basket a game each. How many games have the Bucks lost by 4 points or less.”

“If I take the qualifying offer and become an [unrestricted] free agent there is no way I am coming back,” Jennings told Yahoo! Sports on Friday. “There is no way.”

Jennings clearly is angling for a max contract or a way out of Milwaukee Bucks after next season as an unrestricted free agent so he can play in a bigger market.

“It’s not unfair to make that statement if he feels there is not a deal fair to him this summer,” Bucks general manager John Hammond said. “I would be surprised if it happens. But he is operating within the [collective bargaining] rules. I’m not taken aback. It’s a natural discussion to have.”

Brandon Jennings will be a restricted free agent after the season, and Milwaukee’s refusal to include him in a deal before last week’s trade deadline is a clear indication that the team plans to do what it takes to bring him back. But are the small-market Bucks really in position to match any offer for a player like Jennings who hasn’t shown a ton of improvement since entering the league? Probably not. That’s why it’s not inconceivable to think a team lacking young talent like Dallas could sneak its way into the picture.
