NCAAF Predictions Week 1 – LSU, TCU Set To Meet In Clash Of Top-25 Teams At Cowboys Stadium Saturday

The No. 12 LSU Tigers are looking to prove the online sports betting critics that don’t believe they can contend in the SEC this season wrong. That will come in time, but first Les Miles’ team must worry about their season opener against an upstart Big 12 team looking to bounce back from a disappointing season. The Tigers will open the 2013 season on the road against the No. 20 TCU Horned Frogs this Saturday, in a game that is expected to be close. LSU is favored by 4.5 points on the road but TCU is playing in its home state and looking to send their supporters home with something to cheer about.

NCAAF Predictions Week 1 - LSU,#12 LSU Tigers @ #20 TCU Horned Frogs

Saturday August 31, 2013 – 9:00 PM ET

Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, Texas

NCAAF Sportsbook Reviews Line: LSU – 4.5

The most important piece for the Horned Frogs is quarterback Casey Pachall, who returns for his senior season after dealing with his own personal demons off the field a year ago. Pachall is healthy and looking to lead the offense to some big totals in 2013, but TCU will face its toughest test of the year in week one against that LSU defense.

College Football Betting Preview: LSU

The Tigers’ defense had a school-record eight players drafted to the NFL a year ago, so there will be some turnover on that side of the ball. That said, Miles has done an excellent job of filling holes and reloading, and it’s only a matter of live betting snaps before the next big NFL prospect steps in. The offense should be better with senior quarterback Zach Mettenberger along with receivers Odell Beckham Jr. and Jarvis Landy, as well as running backs Alfred Blue, Kenny Hilliard, and Jeremy Hill.

College Football Betting Preview: TCU

That offense should provide the Horned Frogs’ defense with a significant price per head challenge at home, with nearly half of the starters returning on that side of the ball. The biggest issue will be playing without defensive end Devonte Fields, who will miss the firs two games due to suspension. TCU will need a strong performance from its defense, but they do have the weapons to keep up if there are lapses on that side of the ball. Pachall went 15-2 as the Horned Frogs’ starter before being sidelined and should be poised for a big year ahead of Trevone Boykin.

College Football Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick

This spread would be double what it is now or more if this game was being played in Louisiana, but it isn’t as though LSU is a true road team in this game anyway. The Tigers have the weapons on offense to make up for whatever stumbles happen on the defensive side of the ball with a group that is in transition, so look for LSU to pull away in the second half of what should be a close game until the third quarter when Miles’ team starts firing on all cylinders.
