NFL Football Picks Week 13 – Broncos and Chiefs Do Round 2 In Arrowhead Stadium

In their previous NFL Football Picks meeting just two weeks ago, it was the Denver Broncos who emerged victorious over the then undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Since then however the Broncos have sustained another loss, and the two teams will collide on Sunday with the same 9-2 record. The only difference is how they got their second loss, as the Broncos narrowly lost in overtime last week, whereas the Chiefs’ defense was dismantled by Philip Rivers and the San Diego Chargers offense.

Although the Broncos have one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, and the Chiefs’ defense was lit up last week, the Broncos come in as a surprisingly low five-point sports book favorite. Peyton Manning hasn’t been playing like his usual self as of late, but the Broncos have too many offensive weapons for him not to succeed. Julius Thomas, who didn’t player for the Broncos in their loss last week, will likely be suiting up this Sunday and play a big role in the offensive game plan. The only concern the Broncos should have is on the defensive side of the ball as the Chiefs offense seemed to hit its stride last weekend by putting up a season high 38 points.

The 38 points the Chiefs put up last weekend was largely due to the fact that Jamaal Charles ran for 115 yards on just 14 carries, and Alex Smith completed 68% of his passes for just under 300 yards. It was a total team effort for the Chiefs offense, and if they can put it together and play well again this week, the Broncos defense could be tested like it was in the second half of last weeks Sunday night NFL Football Picks game. The Chiefs defense however was exposed as Rivers threw for nearly 400 yards and had a quarterback rating of 127.3. The Chargers weren’t that impressive running the ball, but given the Broncos are also a throw first team, it shouldn’t be a problem if Knowshon Moreno can’t break through the Chiefs front line.

The real indicator of how this game will go will not only be the health of the Chiefs secondary, but their performance as well. Yes they were missing guys last weekend, but the bottom line is they need to perform well now in another crucial AFC West game. I am sticking by the Broncos to beat the Chiefs a second time this year, and the five-point spread should easily be eclipsed by Manning and the always dangerous Broncos pass game.NFL Football Picks Week 13: Broncos.
