NFL Rumors – Which Team is Brian Urlacher going to Move to for 2013 season

The NFL Rumors teams may be waiting to see what comes their way via the draft. While Urlacher was at one time one of the best the NFL has ever seen, he is in the twilight of his career, and would only represent a short-term solution for any new team. Furthermore, while he is generally thought to have a high football IQ, he’s played in a very similar system throughout his career, and would have to make adjustments with any new organization. That may remove some teams from the bidding.

NFL RumorsThat may remove some teams from the bidding. When the Chicago Bears didn’t want to re-sign Brian Urlacher, it revved up the speculation engine, and he was linked to a number of other teams. As of Monday afternoon, it’s still relatively quiet. Ed Werder of ESPN, in fact, tweeted the following: “A few teams interested in Brian Urlacher but nothing imminent and no visits arranged yet.”

In the opinion of Mark Kiszla of the Denver Post, it’s a no-brainer. Sure, Urlacher’s best days might be behind him, but for a team poised to make a short-term run — they were the AFC’s No. 1 seed last season, and Peyton Manning may not have too many more seasons left — it could be worth it to see if Urlacher has one more good season left in him.

With a report Thursday that the Vikings — the only known team to have interest — will only sign Urlacher if his price drops, Denver could push their way to the front of the line, depending upon what they’re willing to pay.

The Minnesota Vikings are the team to which everyone has linked him following the reported discussions between them and Urlacher recently. Minnesota has a need at MLB, though signing him would be a departure from GM Rick Spielman’s general strategy (see Kevin Seifert’s note below).
