NFL Update – Will Revis be leaving the Jets’ for Sunny Tampa?

NFL Update -Reading between the lines — Schiano and the Bucs are clearly interested in getting a deal done. If it were to happen, Friday could be the day it occurs.

NFL UpdateRich Cimini of ESPNNewYork reported late Tuesday that the New York Jets have been talking to a couple of teams about shipping Darrelle Revis out of the Big Apple. Tom Sells writes “Teams would be foolish NOT to offer a first round pick for Revis. More than half of first round picks are busts not to mention you’re getting an all pro possible HOF its more than worth the risk. Acl be damned. ”

“The Jets have engaged in trade talks with at least two teams,” Cimini wrote, “including the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to league sources.

“It’s unclear if the discussions are serious — no trade appears imminent — but the fact the Jets are talking to teams suggests Revis’ days in New York could be numbered. Revis receives a $1 million roster bonus if he’s still with the Jets on Saturday.

“The Jets haven’t granted permission to Revis’ agents to speak with other teams, sources said — but that step likely wouldn’t occur until the Jets have agreed to trade compensation with another team.”

Dave Mattis of writes “I cannot necessarily agree with this statement, yeah they haven’t spent alot of money but that is mainly because they were continuously working on getting complete 100% ownership of ManU over the years. Which is only going to put more money in their pockets in which they can spend on both teams. I honestly think that’s what has been happening the past 10 years. Give them credit for trying now. Returning to a superbowl within 13 years is better than alot of these teams in the league that have never even been or haven’t been in 20+ years.”

NFL Update -Tampa Bay continues to be the most logical destination for New York Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis. Tampa Bay is certainly open to the possibility, but a structure for the deal still isn’t in place.
