Detroit outgained Pittsburgh 451-398 yards in the game, while the battle of first downs was won 24-21 by the Steelers. The time of possession battle favored Pittsburgh as their offense was on the field for 32:16, longer than the 27:44 of their opponents.

Shaun Suisham kicked a 21-yard field goal in the third quarter to get the Steelers within 27-23, and Roethlisberger (29-of-45 passing) connected with Will Johnson for a 1-yard touchdown with 4:46 to play in the fourth to put Pittsburgh in front. After an interception by Will Allen, Roethlisberger hit Cotchery for a 20-yard TD with 2:29 left to seal the win.
