NFL Week 5 Predictions – Saints Ready To March Right Through Windy City On Sunday

The New Orleans Saints are marching. With four-straight wins to open the new year, it’s clear that the talent matches the desire just one year after suspensions ripped apart this NFC contender. Head coach Sean Payton is back to lead the way after missing all of last season and while he is undoubtedly the most important piece, it’s certainly a good thing that he has found someone that can take his defense to an elite level in coordinator Rob Ryan. Everything came together again in prime time as the Saints trucked through the Miami Dolphins on the way to a 38-17 Predictions win, and as long as the defense continues to play at a high level it’s impossible to deny New Orleans’ spot among the elite NFC teams. The Saints will visit the Chicago Bears this Sunday for another test of where they stand, and it will be interesting to see how the hosts respond following their first online sports betting loss of the season.

NFL Week 5 Predictions New Orleans Saints @ Chicago Bears
Sunday October 6, 2013 – 1:00 PM ET
Soldier Field, Chicago, Illinois
NFL Sports Betting Line: Chicago -1

Chicago fell behind by 20 in the second quarter of last week’s game at Detroit, and managed to make it a somewhat interesting finish before eventually falling 40-32. The Lions’ offense torched the Bears for 27 second-quarter points last Sunday, and Chicago’s defense needs to bounce back this week in order to give them a chance in this one.

NFL Betting Preview: New Orleans Saints – This New Orleans team finally seems to have the balance it had lacked for so long, as they rank eighth in total defense including fifth-best against the pass. The Saints’ defense dominated the Miami offensive line last week, registering four sacks and forcing four turnovers, including three interceptions. The cornerback tandem of Keenan Lewis and Jabrari Greer has been excellent, but the pressure up front has made the biggest difference as Ryan continues to attack from so many different angles. The offense has never been a question, and Drew Brees looked as confident as ever last week throwing for 413 yards and four touchdowns. Payton has done a masterful job of calling the plays, and it certainly helps to have an elite passer that has plenty of options including Jimmy Graham, Marques Colston, and Jimmy Graham, who combined for over 300 yards and three scores in the win over the Dolphins.

NFL Betting Preview: Chicago Bears – The Bears entered last week’s game with a ton of confidence after three-straight wins. Now NFL online betting fans get to see how they will respond to their first taste of adversity this season. Detroit scored three touchdowns in a span of under four minutes to take the game over, and even though Chicago rallied late it wasn’t enough. The defense will need to bear down and make sure that they get back to playing at a high level just two weeks after dominating the Pittsburgh Steelers, and they should be able to bounce back. It will certainly help if the offense can avoid the turnovers that plagued them last week, as Jay Cutler threw three interceptions and the offense had four giveaways. The Bears’ offense seemed to find a rhythm as the game progressed, and must forget about last week’s loss in a hurry and focus on what made them so successful the first three weeks and in the second half against Detroit.

NFL Betting Preview: Outlook & Pick -The Seattle Seahawks certainly deserve their due through the quarter mark, and the Green Bay Packers aren’t far away, but the Saints could be the team to beat in the NFC right now. New Orleans owns the most explosive offense in the NFC, and the defense has climbed in to the top-10 after being one of the worst in NFL history a year ago. Chicago will be better than it was last week, but the Bears won’t be able to keep this Saints’ team down and eventually they will break through for a close road win that keeps them on pace to clinch the top seed in the NFC. NFL Week 5 Predictions: New Orleans Saints +1.
