Settle for 3rd in the Wood Memorial behind Wicked Strong and Samraat, two Derby contenders.

Ride on Curlin (12/1) – Has found the board in eight of his 10 career races. One of many two exceptions included a 7th place finish in the Kentucky Derby from post 18, that was not a good position for him. Ride on Curlin is the son of 2007 Preakness winners and Horse of the Year, Curlin.

Kid Cruz (14/1) – Has found the winner’s circle in three of his past four races with the lone exception being fully a 2nd place finish in an Allowance at Aqueduct. Won by four lengths on the 1 1/8-mile Private Terms Stakes, and 3 1/2 lengths in the 1 1/16-mile Federico Tesio Stakes.

Dynamic Impact (16/1) – Coming off back-to-back victories, including a gain in the Grade 3 Illinois Derby. He closed strong down the stretch to catch front runner Midnight Hawk, winning with a nose in a photograph finish. Dynamic Impact is apparently hitting his stride at the proper time.

General A Rod (20-1) – Two first, two seconds and a next in six career races. The only time he didn’t discover the board was in the Kentucky Derby, where he settled for a disappointing 11th. Finish third in the Grade 1 Florida Derby and second in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth Stakes in his two races prior to Churchill Downs.

Pablo Del Monte (25/1) – Not a whole lot to like about any of it horse considering he hasn’t finished a lot better than third devote any of his last four races. They certainly were tough fields with three of these being graded stakes. He set the pace in the Grade 1 Blue Grass at Keenland, but was eventually passed by Derby contenders Dance With Fate and Medal Count to stay for third place.

Ring Weekend (25/1) – Has found the board in six of his seven career races. He won the Grade 3 Tampa Bay Derby on March 8 at odds of 14/1, winning by three lengths as the leading runner the whole way.

Ria Antonia (33/1) – Will be the 54th Filly to perform in the Preakness Stakes. Of the, five have already been victorious, including Rachel Alexandra most recently in 2009. A sixth-place finish last time out at the Kentucky Oaks leaves little to be desired, which explains why Ria Antonia is the long shot.
