Tampa Bay OT Game Winning Goal from Pouliot over Florida


Benoit Pouliot scored twice to lead the Lightning over Florida 6-5 on Saturday at BB&T Center.The Lightning were a -115 favorite in the win. The combined score went OVER the total, which closed at 5.5.

NHL RecapTampa Bay got goals from Benoit Pouliot (2), Steven Stamkos (2), Teddy Purcell, and Alex Killorn in the victory. Pouliot opened the scoring at 4:48 of the first period.

Anders Lindback turned in a 25-save effort for the Lightning.Florida got goals from Jerred Smithson, Tomas Kopecky, Jack Skille, Shawn Matthias, and Jonathan Huberdeau in the loss, but it wasn’t enough.

Jose Theodore stopped 30 of 36 shots for the Panthers, but it wasn’t enough to earn the victory.Tampa Bay scored 1 time on 4 chances on the power play, while Florida went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

Florida lost the shots on goal battle to Tampa Bay by a margin of 36-30.

“I knew the puck was going to come out to the front,” Purcell said. “I was just trying to get a little space away from the defenders, and I was luckily uncovered and I was able to one-time it on net.”

Next NHL Picks game, Tampa Bay takes its act home to face Toronto looking for another win. For Florida, they head home to face Toronto.

“We’re not finishing,” Panthers coach Kevin Dineen said. “You’re not going to get in the playoffs with 48 points. You can’t try to get a point a game; it’s just not going to work. We’ve got to find a way a more complete effort and end up with two points.”
