Thursday Night Football Picks Week 14 – Texans With Chance To End Losing Streak Against Jaguars

The Houston Texans are on a huge ten game losing Football Picks streak, but this week another opportunity to end this bad streak when they play the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars did come out with the Football Picks win versus Texans two weeks ago by seven points, but the Texans played better football last week and look like a different team. They did extend their losing streak to ten with a loss to the New England Patriots, but the Texans did put up an impressive 31 points, meaning the 3-9 Jaguars will have a tougher time handing them a loss this Thursday night.

Everything IS big in Texas! The All-Star Cheerleaders were middle school, high school, and competitive teams, and I guess when you combine cheerleading, All-Stars, and Texas all together, you get quite a show!

Their narrow loss to the Patriots last weekend is likely the reason the Texans are the slight sports book favorite. Case Keenum did play better by completing 50% of his passes and picking up 291 yards, but the real reason the Texans are an improved team is because of the running threat Ben Tate has become. Tate is replacing the injured Arian Foster, but in his last three games he’s been rather inconsistent. When he plays well the Texans offense is much better, which is why he’ll be the team’s x-factor this coming Thursday. The Jaguars don’t have a very solid run stopping unit, leading me to believe Tate will have another solid game, and possibly his best of the year. The Texans defense has had trouble stopping the pass this season, but luckily the Jaguars don’t have a quarterback at the level of Tom Brady, whom they faced just last week.

The Jaguars have won two games in a row now, yet they haven’t done it in very convincing fashion. Last weekend they beat the Cleveland Browns by just four points, and they did so by throwing for just 202 yards and rushing for another 112.  They’re a rather conservative team on offense, which is understandable given the lack of weapons they. The reason I’m not yet sold on the Jaguars turning their season around is because of their lack of weapons, and the fact that Maurice Jones-Drew is having another disappointing season. The man who has carried the offense in recent years is averaging just 3.2 yards per carry this season, and has scored just five times on the ground

While this Thursday Night Football Picks game will likely be closer than it should, the Texans are the better all-around team that has the clear advantage on defense. I find it hard to believe the Jaguars could put up enough points to beat the Texans twice in one season as their offense is one of the worst units in the league. The Texans however must come out of the gate ready to play on offense as Keenum has been up and down lately, and they can’t afford another bad performance from their recently named starting quarterback. Their defense however is the deciding point in this game as they should be able to contain Jones-Drew, and force Chad Henne to try and win a game with his arm.
